Hi, I am with Network Solutions and want to assure you that we are working on this issue and have additional clarifications and updates at http://bit.ly/9g5qv4 Please note that this has NOT affected 5M sites as reported online. Our preliminary analysis is that the potential affected under construction web pages was less than 120k around the time of detection of the malware. Please visit http://bit.ly/9g5qv4 for frequent updates and a FAQ on the issue. –Susan Wade

Disgusting attitude of MS; compare year 2001, security bulletin MS-01-017; is that the same Microsoft ?

"We have waived normal support guidelines to provide remediation for all operating systems that are still in widespread use, regardless of whether they are normally supported or not."

And notice how they were providing the update for "unsupported" OSes, despite the fact that the error was not even theirs. This time the flaw is but a monstrous blunder by MS prgorammers, and yet they wouldn't update "old" OSes, even though those OSes were still under support at the time they were working on the fix ? Disgusting, no ?

Absolutely. Take a look at some of Dancho Danchevs posts over at http://ddanchev.blogspot.com/ he clearly outlines links between a lot of the scareware, malware and most other online criminal activity to the same couple of groups

These are not 'alleged' scammers. Last year Reno settled with the FTC for a mere $160,000. One blogger managed to view some of reno's instant messages where he brags about the fake scans and his many trips to the Ukraine to meet with these cyber criminals. Hopefullt all concerned will get the max on each count and the sentences will run consecutively!
